This section changes back to the past simple<\/strong>, as it brings us up to date with Archie\u2019s lifestyle. The change in tense from past perfect in the previous section to the past simple here shows that the flashback is finished and we are back in the main story<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

This section shows how the past simple is the right tense to use for repeated actions or routines in the past<\/strong>. It describes Archie\u2019s lifestyle \u2014 what he usually or often did:<\/p>\n\n

He organized business deals.<\/li>\n\t
He attended important meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
It also uses the past simple in its passive form: It was done<\/strong><\/span> (was \/ were + past participle<\/strong>) to show what often happened to Archie.<\/p>\n\n
