Who exactly is… James Corden?

For many years, James Corden has been a successful actor, producer and TV presenter. Now, thanks to an online video series, he has become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Corden, 38, is from Buckinghamshire, England. He became interested in acting as a teenager and was soon given roles, first on the stage and later on TV and in film. In 2007, he co-created and co-starred in a TV comedy series called Gavin & Stacey. It was a success, as was Corden’s performance in the play One Man, Two Guvnors in 2011. The Guardian described his acting as “brilliant”. In 2015, he became the host of the US talk show The Late Late Show.

Millions of people watch The Late Late Show. But tens of millions watch a segment of the show Carpool Karaoke, which Corden created and which is also on YouTube. In each episode, the performer drives around singing duets with a famous musician. Adele, Justin Bieber, Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga have all sung with Corden.

Since it began in March 2015, Carpool Karaoke has become one of the most successful video series ever on YouTube. Adele’s episodes alone have been watched more than 100 million times. Corden lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
