Princess Diana's call for a ban on landmines

Thanks to her celebrity status, images of the princess walking through a minefield went round the globe. Diana died in August that year, but many believe she influenced the signing of the 1997 Ottawa Mine Ban treatyAbkommenTreaty. There is still no worldwide ban, but Prince Harry has followed in his mother’s footsteps to put pressure on governments to act.
