Alexander McCall Smith is the Scottish writer behind The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, set in Botswana’s capital, Gaborone. In an interview with Spotlight, McCall Smith described the extraordinary interest the books have generate sth.etw. entwickeln; hier: weckengenerated since they were first published.

He also recalled how he created the lead character, Precious Ramotswe, who is the country’s first female private detective. “I lived and worked in Botswana, and ... I formed a strong admiration for the people. I wanted to portray a character who embody sth.etw. verkörpernembodied many of their values.”
