So far this year, Spotlight editorial team member Birgit Roberts and her husband, Richard, have introduced us to "The magical colours of Ireland" and "The people, places and paradoxes of India". This time, they show us around the Golden State. The journey begins in central California, along the Pacific Ocean coast. The first Spanish colonists called this el sur grande, meaning "the big south". Today, it is known as Big Sur.
Birgit: "Richard captured young male elephant seals fighting for fun at Piedras Blanca View Point. The females aren't interested: they need their beauty sleep."
