Drink fine wine and relax in Marlborough
01.06.2009
New Zealand's largest wine-growing region, Marlborough, is known for its world-famous Sauvignon Blanc. Located in the north-east of the South Island, the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful and the climate one of the finest in the country. Activities on offer include hiking and boating in the peaceful waters of the Marlborough Sounds and, of course, discovering the vineyards and wineries on the Wairau plain.
- The Marlborough Wine Festival is the region's main attraction. The next one begins on Saturday, 13 February 2010. The event is made up of wine tastings and tutorials, boat cruises and exclusive vineyard dinners.
- Explore Marlborough's wineries by taking a wine tour. See how wine is made, and taste the final product. For a more adventurous experience, take a guided wine walk and spend a day immersed in nature.
- You'll need some world-class food to complement that world-class wine, and Malborough's choice of gourmet restaurants offers just that. Local produce includes wild game, fresh garlic and olive oil, as well as seafood straight from the region's waterways.
- Stay at the Craglee Lodge in Marlborough Sounds. The lodge is on three levels with stunning views over the Bay of Many Coves. Enjoy a day out on the water in a chartered boat, with the oppertunity to take your "catch of the day" back to the lodge to be cooked for your dinner!
