The Making of a President in Boston
13.01.2009
Barack Obama is often compared with the late John F. Kennedy. Those who are going to Boston this year can test this theory at the "The Making of a President" exhibition in the Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. It runs until autumn.
The exhibition features documents, photographs and items relating to JFK's early life, including: growing up in a large Irish-American family; his education at Harvard University; his travels as the son of an ambassador and as a United States Congressman; his naval service in the South Pacific during World War II. Among the items that have never been displayed before include the Kennedy's travel diaries from Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
One of Boston's top destinations for visitors from all over the world, the Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library is an architectural masterpiece designed by I. M. Pei. It sits on a 10-acre waterfront site on Columbia Point offering panoramic views of Boston's skyline and Harbor Islands. Admission is $10.00 for adults; $8 for those over the age of 62 and students with identification, and $3 for teenagers 13-17. Children aged 12 and under are admitted free.
The Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is located in the Dorchester section of Boston and there is free shuttle-service from the JFK/UMass T Stop on the Red Line.
