London: 10 of the very best
The 2012 Olympics are getting nearer, and the energy can already be felt in London. With its 40,000 shops, 7,000 pubs and 6,000 restaurants, the city makes sure that the visitor will never be bored, thirsty or hungry. There's always something interesting around the corner, which you can reach using the Underground. Let's go!
Experience: London rushes by at 35 knots per hour as you speed along the Thames in a high-speed RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). London RIB Voyages leave from the London Eye every hour. Underground: Waterloo.
Pub: Three hundred years ago, Georgian drinkers would spend their evenings enjoying enormous bowls of punch, which is how The Punch Bowl at 41 Farm Street got its name. Apart from being one of the city's oldest pubs, the other reason the place is popular is that it's part-owned by ex-Mr Madonna, film-maker Guy Ritchie. A large picture of Winston Churchill looks down on the drinkers of such beers as Old Speckled Hen. The pub grub includes bangers and mash. Underground: Bond Street.
Exhibition: "Undercover: The Evolution of Underwear" runs until 27 September in the Fashion and Textile Museum at 83 Bermondsey Street. The organizers present some exquisite pieces from collections by Triumph, M&S, Myla, Elle Macpherson and Wonderbra. The "stars and their bras" section looks at celebrities and their undies, and includes a La Perla bra encrusted with Swarovski crystals. Underground: London Bridge.
