A Halloween weekend in London
The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer and Halloween is almost here again. Two of the things that make next Saturday's festival so enjoyable are fun and food, and you can have lots of both in London. With the help of the London Underground, we're highlighting three events, three food markets and something very special for the Halloween weekend.
FUN: The candlelight tour of the Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great in West Smithfield is sold out, but there are lots of other events for the visitor to experience during the London Ghost Festival. There's the Halloween ball at Charlton House, "a beautiful Jacobean mansion" in South-East London. The house has its own ghosts, and they might even appear around midnight. Underground: Pontoon Dock.
FOOD: They sell Albanian yogurt and Zanzibari spices, along with food from almost every other country at Borough Market in Southwark. Dating back to Roman times, this is London's oldest food market, and it's also one of the world's biggest. It is where you can hear such dialects as Cockney and Estuary English. If some parts of the market look familiar, it's probably because its Industrial Age buildings have appeared in such films as Bridget Jones's Diary, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Underground: London Bridge.

COMMENTS
I am sorry. Is it candlelight or candlelit?
The noun candlelight means the light that a burning candle provides. EXAMPLE: "Will we return to reading by candlelight if there's an energy crisis this winter?"
However, because "candlelight" (sometimes spelled "candle light") is also used as a modifier — "After a very romantic candlelight dinner, Pussy and Bond returned to the Hotel de Russie." — the usage in the London travel text above is correct.
