Flight EZY1496 from Birmingham to Geneva had sat on the runway for nearly half an hour when the captain said he had some "bad news". The ground crew had put 10 tonnes too much fuel into the plane. Before the flight could take off, 37 passengers would have to debark.

Single malt is pure malted whisky made by a single distiller. The best-selling single malts in the world, the Glenlivet and Glenfiddich, are made beside the River Spey in north-eastern Scotland. The Spirit of Speyside Festival starts on 29 April.

William Shakespeare was born and buried here

William Shakespeare died in 1616 and was buried in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Stratford-upon-Avon. This is where he had been baptised in 1564. "My words fly up, my thoughts remain below: Words without thoughts never to heaven go." — Hamlet.
