All you need is a bicycle and a band of horses

As the year comes to an end, I'm looking back at the wonderful photos taken by Brigit Roberts in California, by Janina Schneider-Eicke in Sydney, by Kirstie Crail in South Africa and by Dagmar Taylor in Scotland. They can all be found in the Travel section that was introduced here in February as part of our redesigned website. Since then, it has become very popular — and not only because of the photos and the quality of the writing. The information and the video clips that make up our weekly travel reports bring the world nearer and make it clearer, without making it smaller or less interesting.

"Travel" sounds expensive, but it need not involve spending a lot of money. And that's why we're ending our travel year here with Danny MacAskill cycling around Edinburgh to the soundtrack of a group called Band of Horses. I don't know if you should try this at home, but you can certainly enjoy it. Happy travelling! See you here next year!
