Gimme some more
"Please, sir, I want some more." Oliver asks the cook at the workhouse for some more gruel in Dickens's Oliver Twist. This month, our medley of activities is somewhat more appetizing than gruel: we have a further taste of Charles Dickens, a balloon game, a picture relay game (see page 2) and some choral reading (see page 3). In our online copy file you'll find a jumbled-up exercise.
This month, we review a Heinle publication written by an examiner with more than 25 years of experience, and a series that helps students become independent, competent and creative writers (see page 5).
Our February interviewee is Olly Twist, whom we met at the Frankfurt Book Fair last year. Find out more about Olly's interesting life, which includes tending sheep, as well as what he means when he says "there is nothing greater in life."
