Procedure
- Make a transparency of the Peanuts cartoon on page 71, omitting the text in the last frame.
- Ask your students which of them are dog owners. Find out about their dogs’ feeding habits, i.e. what they eat, how much and how often.
- Show the transparency to the class. In pairs, students should make suggestions for the missing words in the speech bubble.
- Listen to the suggestions. Have students vote for the best one.
- Reveal the original quote, asking the students to guess what “parsley” means. Invite comments about the cartoon. In what other ways are dogs spoiled by their owners?
