Procedure
- Ask your class to recall some mistakes (in either spelling or grammar) that they have recently read in newspapers or on signs. What were their reactions?
- Tell your students that you will now play part of a recording (Britain Today, p. 14). As they listen, they should write down what mistakes people make in Britain.
- Play the recording until "...examples of incorrect English".
- Do a quick feedback session.
- Dictate some or all of the sentences in exercise 1 ("There, there") on page 69, asking students to fill in the blanks.
- Correct the exercise (see page 70 for answers). Find out how well your students did.
