Procedure
- Download and make copies of the online copy file. This contains sentences taken from various parts of the magazine.
- Cut up one of the copies into separate sentences, one per student in your class.
- Give every student one of the sentence strips and a blank sheet of paper.
- Ask the students to look at their sentence and to try to draw a representation of it on the paper. Allow five minutes.
- Put the drawings up on the walls around the classroom.
- Divide the class into pairs. Give each pair a complete sentence sheet and ask them to walk around the picture gallery. They should try to match each sentence to its picture on the wall.
- Ask everyone to share and compare their answers.
- Take down the pictures, and collect the copies.
- Hold up the drawings, one at a time. Elicit the matching sentence, write it on the board and ask the students to identify the tense and briefly explain why it is used.
- Distribute the drawings at random, and ask students to write a story around their allocated drawing for homework.
