Procedure
- Download and make copies of the copy file above
- Find out how much horse-riding experience your students have.
- Hand out the copies. Ask the students to work individually to complete the words with the missing vowels (a - e - i - o - u).
- Check the answers (see page 46).
- Display the image on page 46 (available to subscribers here) and cover up the word list. Students match the words from their handout to the picture. Allow them to check answers against the original.
- Select a word and shout out the letters as in a football chant; e.g. Teacher: "Give me a B!" Class: "B!" Teacher: "Give me an I!" Class: "I!" Teacher: "Give me a T!" Class: "T!" Teacher: "What does that spell?" Class: "Bit!"
- The exercises on page 47 can be done for homework.
