Last night in Los Angeles, Mo'Nique won the Oscar for best supporting actress for her portrait of a terrifying mother in "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire." Meanwhile, in Oakland, Kwanda Hood survived a terrifying mother and became a good mother.

"I didn't even know he'd been stabbed"

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in Nevada in November was 12.3 percent, which is higher than the national rate of 10 percent. Like many other young men in Reno, Shaun Shamburger and Dustin Zastre are jobless.
