Super Bowl

Sunday, February 6, 2011, sees the return of a sporting tradition: the yearly championship in American football known as the Super Bowl. In this year's game, the Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Green Bay Packers in Arlington, Texas.

It's the biggest advertising event of the year. The Super Bowl draws 95 million viewers, but Americans prefer the ads to the action. Sixty-six per cent remembered their favourite ad from last year's game, but only 39 per cent recalled which team won.

The Super Bowl is the most-watched US television experience of the year, and Super Bowl Sunday has become a kind of national holiday. Rock stars perform at halftime, and Americans eat almost as much food as they do on Thanksgiving.
