Replay: iPhone controversy Premium-Inhalt

In this track, you'll hear about a controversy involving iPhones. You'll also learn how to use the expression "to stumble upon something", as well as several other interesting bits of vocabulary. Here we go!

The rebirth of the magazine

Eamonn Fitzgerald writes: "The iPad version of The New Yorker has everything that's in the magazine."

It looks like a diaper, but it protects your iPad: the iMaxi.

Trend: iPad-friendly stuff

"Louis Vuitton is all about nomadism — chic nomadism," Yves Carcelle, the company's CEO, told The Wall Street Journal. "As soon as we read about the iPad, we contacted Apple." Louis Vuitton now sells two iPad cases, both with the LV logo, for €350.

Don't try this at home!

"Will it blend?": Mike Pilewski describes a crazy, but successful, marketing strategy from the United States.

A revolution starts now

Eamonn Fitzgerald writes of the new iPad: "Kids love to touch things and see what happens."

"How much will Apple's top iPad cost in Europe? I'd say €900 _____."

For most, at most or to most?

A tablet, but not an iPad

The expression "to wipe the slate clean" means "to agree to start again" with a relationship. The term comes from the Latin tabula rasa. The Romans wrote on tablets covered in slate and wax, and the entire slate could be erased for reuse afterwards.

iAdjective

Eamonn Fitzgerald: "Hemingway wrote, 'I try to put the shit in the wastebasket.'

The iPad is "a magical and revolutionary device" says Steve Jobs.

The Apple iPad is finally here

Perhaps the most significant thing about the iPad is called iBooks, an electronic book store. Steve Jobs said Apple has struck relationships with five major publishers, Hachette, Penguin, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster and Macmillan.
