Sexy Scott is driving his truck to Washington
"I'm Scott Brown. I drive a truck. And I'm nobody's senator but yours." That's what he told cheering supporters on Tuesday night, after becoming the first Republican elected to a US Senate seat in Massachusetts since 1972.
Scott Brown is not just a politician; he's a sex symbol — or he was when Cosmopolitan magazine named him its "sexiest man". That was in 1982, when he was 22. "You don't see anything — it's Cosmo, not Playgirl," he told The Boston Globe when asked about the photos, for which he was paid $1,000.
Today, the 50-year-old Brown is a long-distance runner. Every second day, he gets up at 5 a.m., jumps into a lake and swims a mile. "Then I hop on a bike and do a quick 10 miles, and then run three," he told The Boston Globe. He's also a populist politician, and he's got that common touch.
When he's not running or swimming or biking, Brown drives a 2005 GMC Canyon pickup truck. That, along with campaign speeches in work shirts and well-worn jeans, was part of a political strategy that worked perfectly. Now Scott Brown is getting ready to drive his truck from Massachusetts to Washington, DC, as Ted Kennedy's successor.
