MacBecks

A musical based on the lives of Victoria and David Beckham is playing in Dublin. The satire, entitled "MacBecks", opened on 9 January at the Olympia Theatre. "We're very excited by the script — it's a wild comedy that borrows from Shakespeare's Macbeth, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, as well as Cyrano de Bergerac," Ronan Smith of Long Road Productions told the Popcrunch website.

Victoria Beckham's character ("a ruthless and ambitious woman") is based on Lady Macbeth. The musical also features actors playing former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the woman David Beckham allegedly had an affair with, Rebecca Loos. The script was written by Gary Cooke and Malachy McKenna, who had a theatrical football hit with I, Keano, about Beckham's former Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane.
