The game marks the first appearance of The Beatles in the digital world — and the journey has been a long and winding road. The battle over bringing The Beatles' music into digital stores such as Apple's iTunes has been going on for years now. Sir Paul McCartney said last November that the talks were "stalled".

The Beatles: Rock Band, then, is a big step, and fans will be happy to hear that McCartney, Ringo Starr and the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison all gave "their full blessings" to the project. The son of former Beatles producer George Martin even served as the game's musical producer.
