Amy Winehouse is coming back in Brazil
19.11.2010
The long, hard road back from alcoholism and drug abuse began last month when Amy Winehouse surprised north Londoners with an impromptu performance at her local pub, The Hawley Arms in Camden. Drinkers heard her sing six songs including Tears Dry On Their Own, A Message To You and Rudy.
Izzy Lawrence, who runs the monthly Apocalypstick club at The Hawley Arms, told BBC 6 Music that Winehouse simply turned up at the pub. "Amy just whispered to me, 'I know I'm not on the line up but do you mind if I play?'" she said. "Obviously I wasn't going to say no and she got up and played and it was amazing."
Winehouse is working on the follow-up to her 2006 hit album Back to Black. Izzy Lawrence has heard some of the new tracks and she's impressed: "It sounds great — it's quite upbeat, quite funky, very soulful. If those songs are going to be on the new album, it's going to be huge."
