A 70th birthday party for John Lennon
13.09.2010
Yoko Ono paid an "emotional" visit last week to Mendips in Liverpool, John Lennon's childhood home that he shared with his aunt Mimi from 1945 to 1963. Ono bought the house in 2003 and donated it to the National Trust so that it would be preserved.
"Each time I come here I go into John's bedroom and it really makes me choke up because to know he was actually dreaming in such a small space but dreaming of the whole world and what he was going to do — I'm sure he knew on some subconscious level," she told the BBC.
Among events planned to mark John Lennon's 70th birthday:
"We Are Plastic Ono Band" concerts with Lady Gaga, Iggy Pop, Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon on 1 and 2 October in Los Angeles.
Eight reissued solo albums plus new collections, including an expanded version of 1980's "Double Fantasy" and an 11-CD John Lennon Signature Box.
Nowhere Boy, a film about Lennon's teen years and the evolution of The Quarrymen into The Beatles.
