Here's Johnny! Again, and again, and again
Who's a busy boy, then? Johnny Depp. Currently playing 1930s gangster John Dillinger in Public Enemies, Depp will soon be seen in cinemas as Tony in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Paul Kemp in The Rum Diary and the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. Oh, and he's also been booked by Disney to play Tonto in The Lone Ranger.
But the role everyone wants to know about is that of Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp played Captain Jack in the previous three Pirates of the Caribbean films, which earned more than $2.7 billion around the world. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, auditions are under way for the next Pirates, but neither Keira Knightley nor Orlando Bloom is expected to return. Out, too, is Gore Verbinski, who directed the original film as well as the sequels. Rob Marshall, the Oscar-nominated director of Chicago, is said to be in talks to direct the fourth part of the Pirates franchise in May next year.
And Johnny Depp? When Captain Sparrow asks "Why is the rum always gone?" fans want to hear the words be said by Depp, and they will. Johnny's coming back as Jack.
