Aron Ralston cut off his own arm
22.09.2010
Ralston, who is played by Spider-Man actor James Franco, survived the "operation" despite having to climb down a 30 metre cliff and walk for miles to get help.
Tom Charity wrote in Time Out magazine that "127 Hours" is "simply unmissable".
However, the amputation scene upset some people last week at the Toronto Film Festival . It shows Ralston breaking his arm and using a knife to cut through his flesh. Computer-generated images are used to take the audience under the skin, where the knife can be seen reaching the bone.
John Foote, critic for film industry website The Wrap, said: "I cannot remember a reaction to a film like this in a very long time."
