renewal. First, test your listening and writing skills by doing our dictogloss . Reconstruct a short text by listening and noting down key words as a base for writing out the whole text.
A few years ago, Belfast murals epitomized Northern Ireland. Conflict ridden neighbourhoods with their ruined streets and a decaying economic climate were not much more attractive to foreign tourists than war-torn Palestine. Northern Ireland lost three quarters of its global market share of incoming visitors at the beginning of the Troubles.
The historic return of the Northern Ireland Assembly last year has revived tourism. The forecasts predict a record 28 percent increase this year. Today the murals are a tourist attraction, along with the Bushmills Distillery, rugby matches and the Tall Ships parades. Urban life is being revitalized. And amazingly, a country once known for bombings is now a top destination for golfers.
