Work in progress: We're painting the roses red
In Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland (1951), Alice meets a group of men who are doing something very strange. Watch:
That is not what they normally do, is it? They're just doing it now, because, as Mr Three explains, "We planted the white roses by mistake." The Queen, who is known for her bad temper, likes red roses. She must not find out, because she would
"raise a fuss and each of us
would quickly lose his head.
Since this is a thought we dread,
we're painting the roses red."
