A phone booth outside the Berkeley, California, public library. As all but the poorest have cell phones, the public telephone is becoming a relic before our eyes. According to the Federal Communications Commission, the United States had more than two million pay phones in 2000. By 2007, the number had fallen to fewer than one million.

Thats how we felt when we got a new answering service that was all VOIP and got rid of all our old phone equipment and just installed a new server in our rack.
