Snow, snow and more snow
14.03.2011
New England is used to snow, but this has been one of the snowiest winters in memory.
A storm last week, on 6-7 March, dumped 65 cm of snow on Burlington, Vermont. This was the third heaviest snowfall the city had ever recorded. Schools were closed and some residents were without electricity.
The winter of 2010-11 has produced the third greatest amount of snow overall. So far, 316 cm of snow have fallen. The all-time record of 369 cm was set in 1970-71.
Our photo shows Amherst, Massachusetts, 250 km to the south, which has also seen no end to snow this winter.
