Marijuana as medicine
12.07.2010
California has had a medicinal marijuana programme in place for several years now, with dispensaries in most communities, so the Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010 would be a logical next step for this pioneering state, say the law's supporters.
The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws estimates US taxpayers spend more than $10 billion a year arresting and prosecuting people for crimes related to cannabis. FBI statistics show that almost half of the drug arrests in the US each year are for marijuana. Six million young Americans have been arrested on marijuana charges in the last ten years.
