A tablet, but not an iPad

In China, this is the Year of the Tiger. In the technology world, this is the Year of the Tablet. A tablet is a computer with a touchscreen or stylus.
Today's tablets, like the iPad developed by Apple, were inspired by the reusable and portable writing surfaces used in antiquity and throughout the Middle Ages. Then, writing tablets were made of wood and covered with a layer of slate or wax. Today, many schoolchildren in Bangladesh still use this ancient tablet technology for learning to read and write.
