Your money is in the bank
When I was young, my mother wanted me to grow up and get a "good job". That meant becoming a teacher or a boss. Any such job was "a banker", in her vocabulary. Back then, anything to do with banks and banking was regarded as a synonym for security.
We're older and wiser now. Last year we learned that the banks, with their hubris and greed, almost destroyed the global economy. Now the Financial Times is telling us that 30 million defective German debit and credit cards have "left bank customers unable to make purchases or make cash withdrawals."
I don't know if bank jobs are seen as "bankers" these days. I doubt it. And as Smigly's experience shows, banks may not be our friends, either.
