Where was Bill Clinton when Village People talked dirty?
June is sex month here at Spotlight. Our cover story, "Sex today in the USA", is so fascinating that it inspired online exercise writer Anne Hodgson to join the fun last week with a Sex is funny test. It has lots of amusing quotes, such as "When a man talks dirty to a woman, it's sexual harassment. When a woman talks dirty to a man, it's $3.95 a minute."
That reminded me of a book I'd read a few years ago, Vox by Nicholson Baker. From beginning to end, it is just phone sex between two people on a pay-per-minute line. Vox was not quite the erotic masterpiece that some people had hoped for, but neither was it completely pornographic. In fact, I found it romantic because just before hanging up, the man gives the woman his phone number. By the way, Monica Lewinsky supposedly gave a copy of Vox to President Bill Clinton.
Question: Do you think Bill was a fan of Village People? He was governor of Arkansas when the kings (and queens) of disco released their ninth album in 1985. It flopped, but it had one great track. It's four minutes long, but you don't have to pay anything here.
