We hope that you'll friend us on Facebook
Last month, The New Oxford American Dictionary announced its Word of the Year. It was "unfriend". The verb means to remove someone as a "friend" on the social networking site Facebook. Example: "I'm going to unfriend everyone who wishes Paris Hilton a happy birthday!"
Well, we hope that instead of "unfriending" us, you'll do the opposite. You see, Spotlight now has its very own Facebook page and we're looking forward to having lots of Facebook friends, including you.
Why Facebook? Here's one reason: It was announced last week that the population of the social network now is bigger than that of the United States.
Since mid-September, Facebook has added 50 million users, which means it now has more than 350 million of them. To be sure, lots of these post photos of themselves in embarrassing situations, but for a growing number of businesses, Facebook is a new way to build online communities, to tell people about their products and services and to do lots of other cool things. That's why we've decided to friend Facebook.
So, tell us what's on your mind by writing something on our "wall", and take part in the discussion by answering the January magazine Debate question: "Is President Obama keeping his promises?"
And don't forget: Friend us!
