The word is "video"
How big is the internet? Yes, that's kind of a silly question, but let's hear what Robert Pepper of Cisco Systems told the Internet Governance Forum in Sharm el-Sheikh last month. "It's growing at a compound annual growth rate of 46 per cent." But what does that mean? Well, put another way, "internet traffic will have increased six-fold" by 2012.
Why? He said "video": that's what's driving the traffic and the growth. Video "overcomes barriers of language, local content and literacy, allowing users to interact more easily with the internet," said Pepper. One sometimes forgets just how powerful video can be. Does anyone understand how a computer's operating system functions? I don't. Then I saw a video Google made to explain how its Chrome operating system is going to work.
That Google video has been watched more than a million times, but "Surprised Kitty" has been watched an incredible seven million times!
