The Nike whirlwind of football and fame
One of the best moments of last Saturday's Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan came at half-time. It was the new Nike ad. It's more a short film than an ad, really, and it was made by Alejandro González Iñárritu, the Mexican director of such cinema hits as Amores Perros, 21 Grams and Babel.
Entitled "Write the Future", the ad features Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ronaldinho, Landon Donovan, Franck Ribery, Fabio Cannavaro, Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant and Homer Simpson.
Iñárritu described the ad as an "unstoppable kind of absurd action plus action plus action plus..." It's also a whirlwind of football and fame, plus commerce and art. Over to you, Adidas.
