Read all about it! The June Spotlight
The June edition of Spotlight goes on sale on Wednesday, 26 May. Eamonn Fitzgerald spoke to Deputy Editor Claudine Weber-Hof about the next issue.
Fitzgerald: The June cover story is about "mobile English". Is this a new dialect or a new theory or something else entirely?
Weber-Hof: The story's about an exciting new development in using smartphones to learn English. This new generation of technology is allowing us to learn wherever and whenever we like. That's mobile English. Our author explains how smartphones and specific apps — software programs you can download for them — can help you improve your language skills.
Fitzgerald: In June, the world will be watching the World Cup. What many people won't know about is the role Danny Jordaan played in bringing the tournament to South Africa.
Weber-Hof: If any one person is responsible for bringing the World Cup to South Africa, then it's Danny Jordaan. He's now the chief executive of the 2010 World Cup organizing committee. Our feature article tells the story of his long history with "the beautiful game" and what this important sporting event means to his country.
