The February edition of Spotlight goes on sale on Wednesday, 27 January. Eamonn Fitzgerald spoke to Editor-in-Chief Inez Sharp about the next issue.

Fitzgerald: The February cover image is striking. What does it tell us about our travel story?

Sharp: It tells us that a safari holiday is about up-close encounters with animals, as Spotlight's deputy editor, Claudine Weber-Hof, found out when she visited Kruger National Park. Sometimes she saw an elephant or a zebra in the distance, and sometimes the animals were almost close enough to touch. It was great that Claudine admitted to feeling a little nervous about these encounters, but was then so fascinated by the whole experience that she would love to go on another safari. The text and the images were vivid. It felt as if I had taken a mini-safari myself.
