The August edition of Spotlight goes on sale on Wednesday, 28 July. Eamonn Fitzgerald spoke to Editor-in-Chief Inez Sharp about the next issue.

Fitzgerald:  In August, Spotlight is on the road again. The cover story is about a road trip in the Golden State.

Sharp: Who has not dreamed of driving along California’s Highway One? Hire yourself a convertible, turn up the Beach Boys and get out on that Pacific coastal road — doesn’t that sound like the perfect holiday? In fact, when our California-based correspondent, Jan Stuermann, turned in his description of a journey along Highway One, we found that we had got something even better than a  road trip. California is defined as much by its people as by its geography and Jan has given us a perfect blend of both: the optimistic, slightly larger-than-life residents of the golden state and the lovely landscape  between Los Angeles and San Francisco. 

Fitzgerald: We've got a reading test in next month's magazine. Why?
