Great wedding, great song, great video
Jack and Jill went up the hill... They got married, made a video of the wedding and uploaded it to YouTube, but only seven people watched it.
Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz went to church in St Paul, Minnesota, to get married, made a video and uploaded it to YouTube, and it's been watched more than 15 million times since. Why? Well, it's funny and it uses a great song: "Forever" by Chris Brown. Another interesting thing about the song is that it is copyrighted by Sony. Now, not very long ago, YouTube would have received a takedown notice from Sony for allowing this kind of thing, but the video has a "Buy song" button every second time it's played these days, and "Forever" is back in the charts as a result.
Millions of children in the English-speaking world have learned that after Jack and Jill went up the hill in the nursery rhyme, "Jack fell down and broke his crown / And Jill came tumbling after." Maybe music companies are finally beginning to understand that their business will stop falling down if they allow people to sing, dance and share the resulting mashup videos.
