Fantastic photos of New York unreality
Danish photographer Peter Funch stands at New York City street corners for two weeks at a time, taking pictures of people at the same spot. Then his work really begins. For the "Babel Tales " project, Funch picked lots of pedestrians — smokers, mobile-phone users, messengers — and made one image of them using the Adobe Photoshop program. The result is a New York where everyone carries flowers or yawns.
After years of working as a photojournalist, Peter Funch is now creating his own world in which people appear to interact with each other without being in the same place at the same time. "I'm no longer interested in being objective. I enjoy building up my images from more than one shot, then manipulating them in Photoshop," he says. In Funch's fantastic photos, we get to see a kind of unreal reality.
