A revolution starts now
No, I don't have an iPad. Not yet. But I don't need one to understand that it is going to start a revolution — and it's going to do so because of babies. You see, the happiest iPad users will be those just learning to walk and talk. They don't want things like a keyboard or a mouse or any of the other stuff we computer users deal with every day. Kids just love to touch things and see what happens. If you don't believe me, just take a look at this video clip, which shows a child trying out the iPad. No manual, no instructions, no training, and she immediately knows how to use it.
Tell me, do you think that when she's five or six, she'll want to swap the touch screen for a keyboard? I don't think so. And here's another thing: Along with babies, the other big market for the iPad will be people over the age of 60. They don't like computers, with their drives and directories and complicated commands about saving files and installing software. Now, thanks to Steve Jobs, they won't need to worry about these things anymore.
When you have something that can please both grandparents and grandkids, and help the two to learn and play, you've got a revolutionary product.
