"Mummy, can you phone my hair?" asked my daughter one morning.
"Hello? Is that the hair? Yes? I'd like to order pizza with pineapple and ham!"
"No," she laughed, "I mean blow-dry it."
Hair dry, we were finally ready to leave. As we drove to the kindergarten, I saw someone I knew and waved.
"Why are you winking at that man?" my daughter asked.
I turned round and winked at her. "I wasn't winking, I was waving."
My daughter giggled.
Sportsfreunde Stiller came on the radio:
„Ich war noch niemals in New York, ich war noch niemals auf Hawaii..."
"Hawaii is a pizza with pineapple and ham," explained my daughter from her seat in the back of the car.
As we sang along to the rest of the song, I wondered when the right time would be to tell her about Hawaii.
